  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations regarding fume extraction and waste disposal.

Cost Management and Efficiency:

  • Monitor welding processes to reduce waste, downtime, and production costs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase productivity and reduce cost per weld.
  • Work with the production team to optimize material usage and minimize defects.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Work closely with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure product designs are feasible for welding.
  • Provide input on design modifications to improve manufacturability and weldability.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule regular upkeep and troubleshooting of welding equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of welding activities, procedures, and test results.
  • Prepare reports on welding process performance, including quality audits and process improvements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of welding certifications, materials, and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Engineer, ASME) is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in welding engineering or a related field, with a strong understanding of welding processes and materials.
  • Experience with welding equipment, techniques, and quality control measures.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) and regulations.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot welding defects.
  • Proficient in the use of welding software and equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection techniques and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or industrial setting, which may involve exposure to heat, noise, and other environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and work in tight or awkward spaces.

Work Environment:

The role typically operates in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Weld Engineers may be required to work in both office and production areas, and may occasionally be involved in hands-on testing and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
