Overview Carney, Sandoe & Associates is currently seeking Physics Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year at independent schools in the Los Angeles area. Responsibilities Develop and deliver engaging and effective physics lessons for students at various levels (e.g., middle school, high school, or advanced courses). Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles, including lectures, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and experiments. Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments in alignment with the curriculum and educational standards. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Collaborate with other faculty members to create and refine curriculum materials, ensuring they meet the needs of the school’s educational goals. Offer additional support during office hours, study sessions, or one-on-one mentoring for students who require extra help or challenge. Advise students on college and career pathways, particularly in science-related fields. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred for advanced courses or higher teaching roles). Prior experience teaching physics at the middle or high school level, particularly in a private or independent school setting, is preferred. Experience in designing and delivering hands-on experiments and using laboratory equipment. Experience with advanced courses (e.g., AP Physics, IB Physics) may be a plus. In-depth understanding of physics principles, theories, and concepts. Ability to explain complex topics clearly and in an engaging manner. Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety protocols. Familiarity with educational technology tools, learning management systems, and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning. Ability to integrate technology effectively into physics instruction, such as through simulations, virtual labs, and multimedia presentations. Additional Qualities Passion for physics and education.
