We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in Forensic Investigation to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position in the construction industry where you will play a critical role in incident investigation and analysis. This role will require a combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and strong communication abilities. If you have a passion for problem-solving, a deep understanding of materials science, and a knack for investigation, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducting comprehensive forensic investigations into mechanical failures, vehicular incidents, and fire-related incidents in the construction industry.
  • Utilizing your expertise in materials science to analyze and understand the causes of various incidents and failures.
  • Preparing detailed, accurate reports on your findings for use in legal proceedings and insurance claims.
  • Serving as an expert witness in court proceedings, providing clear and concise explanations of complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborating with other professionals within the organization to develop preventative measures and safety protocols based on your investigative findings.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior members of the forensic investigation team.
  • Staying up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in forensic engineering and materials science.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in incident investigation and analysis, with specific experience in fire investigation and vehicular incident investigation is preferred.
  • Ideally brings in-depth knowledge of materials science and its application in forensic investigation.
  • Previous experience serving as an expert witness in legal proceedings is highly desired.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard tools and software for forensic analysis and investigation.
  • ACTAR certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
  • A strong commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant industry regulations and standards.
