- Contract Duration: 12-months
- Worksite Location : Plymouth, MN
- Compensation : $25-27 per hour
What you’ll do as a Food Science Technician: - Support research scientists in completing research projects and activities, contributing to the development of innovative solutions for the Starches and Sweeteners business and customers.
- Conduct pilot trials and routine experiments, organizing and communicating results, and providing routine analysis to support the team’s objectives.
- Maintain pilot/laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and readiness for use in experiments and trials.
- Ensure compliance with corporate EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards and Food Safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, assisting in various aspects of the research and piloting process as needed.
What you’ll bring to the Food Science Technician role: Required: - Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, Food Science, or a related field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and organizational effectiveness
- Demonstrated commitment to safety in the work environment
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
- Ability to execute designed experiments, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary corrections during experimentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred: - 6 months to 3 years of experience in a food-grade pilot plant environment
- Hands-on experience with microbiology sampling, sterile technique, and/or fermentation principles and operations
- Experience with setup and operation of lab and/or pilot-scale fermentations
- Experience with downstream purification technologies, such as chromatography, separations (e.g., centrifugation, filtration, membrane separation), crystallization, and evaporation
