As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled, hands-on Controller to oversee and optimize all financial operations, reporting, and compliance efforts across our growing organization.Position SummaryThe Controller will be responsible for all financial functions of the business, leading the accounting department and supervising team members with a foucs on internal controls, accurate reporting, project-based financials, and long-term growth planning. This role covers a wide range of responsibilities including accounting, cash flow, payroll, tax compliance, insurance, licensing, and more.Key Responsibilities1. General Accounting & Financial ReportingEstablish and maintain processes and controls for complianceManage intercompany transactions across multiple entitiesOversee monthly close, asset processing, and inventory/floor stock trackingReconcile every line of the balance sheetNormalize EBITDA for reportingPrepare CFO-level financial packages and documentationSupport annual financial review and CPA coordinationLead annual budget creation, KPI development, manpower projections, and capacity planning2. Treasury & Cash ManagementImplement cash handling and banking compliance proceduresWeekly cash position reporting and 13-week cash forecastingPlan for working capital and campaign-related funding needsManage company credit cards and remote deposit controlsHandle bank account setup, credit applications, and LOC renewals/negotiationsLeverage credit and manage funds effectively across the business3. Accounts Payable (A/P)Set up and enforce A/P compliance and internal controlsOversee receipt and invoice management via AdaptiveMonitor vendor compliance, reconciliation, and timely paymentsEnsure subcontractor compliance, including W-9 management4. Accounts Receivable (A/R)Establish and enforce A/R process complianceOversee revenue recognition, warranty/trade accountingManage progress billing, WIP schedules, and retention trackingReconcile customer deposits and monitor cash inflowsAdminister credit card/merchant processing and ensure PCI complianceHandle contract prequalification documentation as needed5. Tax ManagementCreate and maintain controls for tax complianceHandle quarterly tax filings across multiple states (ID, NV, OR, WA)Oversee year-end tax preparation and coordinate with CPASupport tax planning implementation and new business use tax processes6. Insurance & Risk ManagementEstablish insurance compliance procedures and manage annual renewals/auditsOversee all Workers Comp policy functions (renewal, audit, payment, claims)Manage General Liability, Auto, Umbrella, EPLI, and Cyber insurance policiesCoordinate monthly P&L allocations and claim resolution across all insurance typesManage bonding and performance bond requirements7. Payroll & Human Resources SupportMaintain multistate payroll compliance and benefit administrationManage onboarding, offboarding, and weekly payroll processingAdminister 401(k), medical, PTO, and other employee benefitsMaintain certified payroll records and oversee commission reportingHandle unemployment, payroll tax filings, annual rating reviewsPrepare daily payroll journal entries and future reasonable compensation analysis8. Licensing & Vendor ComplianceEnsure compliance with multistate contractor licensingMaintain public works licenses, bonding, and qualificationsHandle ongoing renewals and compliance with state-specific contracting rules9. PFP Systems & Process ImprovementDesign and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting outputsDevelop and maintain benchmarking tools and dashboardsImprove process efficiencies across CRM and project management software systems10.
