JOB OVERVIEW:

Greet and serve guests in a gracious and professional manner while in accordance with the hotel's standards of quality, presentation and sanitation. This role must strive to provide anticipatory service at all times. Complete opening and closing procedures and assigned side work. Practice social distancing, observe mask mandates and maintain hand washing routine as ordered by the CDC, Palm Beach County, and the State of Florida.

ESSENTIALS JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Welcome and greet every guest.
  2. Consistently provide friendly, engaging and anticipatory guest service and heartfelt hospitality.
  3. Distribute menus, answer phones and take messages if host/hostess is not available.
  4. Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating in the bar area.
  5. Describe menu and daily specials. Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way.
  6. Assess bar guests' needs and preferences and make recommendations.
  7. Check identification to verify legal age requirements for all guests.
  8. Receive, record and complete beverage orders. Manage guest orders in a timely and anticipatory manner.
  9. Prepare, mix and serve beverages to guests in accordance with hotel's recipes and quality standards.
  10. Correctly customize orders as requested.
  11. Monitor all guests for alcohol intake to appropriate levels.
  12. Submit food orders to kitchen by entering orders in POS system. Explain any special instructions with accurate abbreviations.
  13. Serve meals according to service standards.
  14. Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction and make recommendation for additions.
  15. Observe guests, respond to additional requests.
  16. Maintain the highest level of standards of quality of products and service at all times.
  17. Verify accuracy of all checks before presenting to guests and present in a timely manner.
  18. Accurately operate the point of sale (POS) and process payments.
  19. Maintain full knowledge of all food & beverage items, garnishes, allergens, contents and preparation methods.
  20. Remove soiled dishes and maintain cleanliness. Maintain full knowledge of and comply with food safety and sanitation policies at all times.
  21. Adhere to proper alcohol handling procedures.
  22. Advise supervisor/manager of any complaints as soon as they occur.
  23. Perform opening and closing procedures, complete checklists and assigned side work.
  24. Maintain a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
  25. Submit orders to supervisor; assist with receipt of deliveries.
  26. Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for drinks.
  27. Mix and prepare syrups, mixers, tonics and other ingredients in accordance with hotel's recipes.
  28. Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
  29. Clean and sanitize assigned areas thoroughly before and after shift end.
  30. Assist support staff with polishing glasses and silverware, folding napkins, cleaning and sanitizing menus, etc.
  31. Monitor and handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  32. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and personal hygiene.
  33. Demonstrate ability to multi-task, manage time and work well under pressure.
  34. Adhere to local and government compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment for guests and employees.
  35. Maintain knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.
  36. Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards.
  37. Maintain a professional courteous manner with all guests and fellow employees.
  38. Assist with special and deep cleaning projects as assigned by a supervisor.
  39. Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assist with monthly inventory of food & beverage and paper products within F&B outlets.
  2. Assist Food Runners and Bussers with stocking supplies, removing and resetting dishes and silverware between courses, and cleaning and resetting vacated tables.
  3. Contribute to daily, holiday, and theme drink menus in collaboration with supervisor.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 1 year of bartender experience in a luxury hotel/club/restaurant.
  3. Excellent food & beverage/wine knowledge.
  4. Responsible Alcohol Service certificate.
  5. Proficient in steps of service.
  6. Excellent guest service skills and passion for hospitality.
  7. Prior experience with Food & Beverage POS systems.
  8. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
  9. Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with guests and co-workers.
  10. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  11. Ability to follow instructions.
  12. Detail-oriented and thorough.
  13. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  14. Ability to perform consistent work to the hotel's high standards.
  15. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  16. Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
  17. Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  18. Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
Desirable:
  1. Previous luxury guest service/Forbes training.
  2. Fluent in a secondary language.
