JOB SUMMARY:

The Greensboro College Department of Theatre seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Theatre Musical Theatre. This position will include teaching in the musical theatre concentration directing musicals and advising musical theatre majors as well as assisting with recruiting for the theatre department.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teach three to four classes per semester.
2. Teach courses within their specialty as well as general theatre courses. Preferred courses include Musical Theatre Cabaret Auditions Junior Recital and Musical Theatre History.
3. Direct either the musical revue and/or the book musical. There are opportunities to direct a play as well.
4. Advise musical theatre majors.
5. Contribute to department recruitment efforts attend at least one recruiting conference and assist with hosting events such as the NCTC High School Play Festival and College Day.
6. Contribute to the college in general including attending faculty meetings participating in faculty workshops serving on committees etc.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Masters degree or higher with prior college/university teaching experience in Musical Theatre.
2. Excellent communication skills as well as cordial collaborative skills with both faculty and student performers directors and designers.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three years experience of teaching at the college/university level preferred especially courses involving acting for musical theatre and musical theatre performance.
2. Prior directing experience preferred.
3. Ability to play the piano preferred.
