Description


Uses medical terminology and equipment resource management processes to plan, organize, and direct the scheduling of patients for surgical interventions and preoperative consultation appointments. Functions as the front line customer service representative communicating with surgeons, surgeon office staff, contract staff, and medical supply vendors regarding the scheduling of patients for surgical procedures. The surgery scheduler uses knowledge of interactive management techniques and humanistic values in creating an environment conducive to meeting the needs of our surgeons, staff and patients. Accurately and efficiently enters surgery information into the Surgery Scheduling system. Produces and distributes the Operating Room case schedule daily. Provides assistance in training and back up to other staff involved in the production of the Operating Room case schedule.

Position Requirements


Education:
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • Previous OR or medical secretary experience preferred, Previous work in surgeon's office a plus, experience with medical terminology required.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • None specified.
