Unique Snacks is a 104-year-old 6th generation family-owned business, located across from the Fairgrounds Farmers Market, that is best known for their Splits, Shells and Sourdough ring pretzels. In 2016 they were named “Snack Producer of the Year” by Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery.

Unique Snacks is hiring 2nd and 3rd Shift Packaging Operators and Mixing Operators.

• PACKAGING OPERATOR
  • Hand pack bags of product off the production line
• MIXING OPERATOR
  • Measure, weigh and prepare ingredients for production
  • Fill dough hoppers for extrusion

We are looking for candidates to grow into other roles such as Production Assistant, Production Supervisor and Shift Supervisor. This role is located in Reading, PA and will be fully on-site.

 

Starting Pay: $17- $21/hr plus shift differential. Raises are offered four times a year!

 

Shifts:

• 2nd – 3p-11:30p
• 3rd – 11p-7:30a

**PAID HOLIDAY AND VACATION**

 

Physical Demands:

• Standing, bending, stooping for 8-hour shifts.
• Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
• Ability to lift, twist, bend, stand, sit, kneel.
• Manual dexterity needed to perform activities

 

What are we looking for?

• High School Diploma/ GED is preferred
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• Attention to Detail
• Problem-solving skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
• Knowledge of SQF, FSMA, HACCP is preferred

 

ALL Candidates must be able to perform the following tasks:

• Maintain accurate production records during shift including but not limited to, bag weights, product completion times, waste, etc.
• Clean/sanitize plant and production equipment, including packaging machines, floors, ovens, belts, etc.
• Observe and comply with all safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), SQF (Safe Quality Food), and company SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure).
• Must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for job duty.
• Report any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
• May be requested to temporarily cover work assignments according to business/production demands.
• Able to read, write and understand English.

The Spannuth Family started baking hard and soft pretzels back in the late 1800's. The demand for our hard pretzels increased rapidly because of our "Unique" baking process. Our pretzels burst open creating bubbles and crevices that were crispy, yet crunchy, and full of flavor. As we produced this split-open pretzel we started calling them "Splits.". They were the only one of their kind.

"Shells" are another variation of a Unique Pretzel. We use our split-open baking process to remove the inside of the pretzel and create bite-size hollow pockets. What's left? The best part! The crunchy, tasty outside pretzel shell.

Through the years, other bakeries have tried to copy our "Splits" without much success. "Splits" are not just another pretzel shaped cracker, they pack a serious crunch and are tantalizing to the palate of any pretzel lover.
