Job Title: Refrigeration Engineer

Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for a Refrigeration Engineer for an energy-related company in Houston, TX. The Refrigeration Engineer will be responsible for the development of the company’s TES controls hardware and programming; along with integrating this with clients’ existing refrigeration systems. This position will serve as the company expert on refrigeration systems, specifically system design, mechanical and electrical control architecture, and operating requirements. The Engineer will coordinate controls hardware and programming with the Hardware and Software Development teams to ensure seamless integration. Also, the position will work with the Sales and Production teams to manage the critical milestones for sales installations.

Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Development of TES controls hardware, programming, and integration with client’s existing refrigeration systems.
  • Serve as an expert on refrigeration systems including system design, mechanical and electrical controls architecture and operating requirements.
  • Travel to client sites to survey existing refrigeration systems to develop a controls integration strategy, design specifications and estimate costs for installation. Available to travel up to an average of 25% of the time, as required.
  • Manage the execution of the final design and installation, which will be performed by qualified refrigeration electricians/contractors.
  • Work with the engineering team to improve refrigeration load, energy saving, and cost estimating models for client’s systems to forecast potential project energy savings and installation costs.
  • 5+ years’ experience with refrigeration systems or central plant HVAC systems.
  • Familiar with mechanical, electrical and control design elements of refrigeration systems or central plant HVAC systems.
  • Refrigeration controls system design, central plant HVAC controls design, or HVACR product development.
  • Programming of PLC (programmable logic controller) experience required including utilizing industry standard communications standards such BACnet, Modbus or APIs.
  • Cellular modem experience a plus.
  • Project management experience; specifically managing contractors. PM tools experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
