Job Description
CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:
CASA’s mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working-class, Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities. Our vision is rooted in the collective power of our community; our inclusive, permanent, member-led movement radically transforms communities and systems to ensure the needs, dreams, and aspirations of members are fully met as we strive for justice and full liberation at home and in solidarity with others across the world. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common mission and vision in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations.
DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:CASA’s Community Organizing and Leadership Department engages working class community members in grassroots organizing campaigns that build power, develop member leadership, and win concrete changes to benefit working class Black, Latino/a/e, Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. From offices in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, and Pennsylvania and across the country, CASA organizers, leadership development trainer, and membership team work to recruit and develop geographic committees of CASA members to lead grassroots campaigns at the local, state, and national level. Community members elect leadership structures within the committees and receive leadership training to develop their skills, grow our membership base, and win on our issues.
Community Organizers are supported by a membership team to grow and activate our wider membership base, as well as a Community Leadership training team to support member leadership development and decision-making bodies.
POSITION SUMMARY:The Racial and Gender Justice Training Manager will design, and implement, popular education curriculum for CASA members, community organizers, allies, and partners in English and Spanish, or English and French. The manager will additionally work closely with the Racial Justice Equity and Inclusion (RJEI) HR manager, and the CASA RJEI team of staff to support the development and implementation of key training to CASA staff at large. All content and materials should be reflective of CASA's mission, vision, and values, and actively demonstrate our organizational commitment to be an Anti-Racist organization, and becoming Pro-Black, Pro-Indigenous, Feminist, and a Queer Liberation organization.
The Racial and Gender Justice Training manager will work with the Chief of Organizing and Leadership, in consultation with the RJEI team of staff to design both general training content as well as train the trainer curriculum. The manager may also support coalition and campaign work as part of an interdepartmental campaign team.
