Project Controls Manager

Location: Remote (Houston, TX local with travel to Augusta, Georgia)

About the Role: Our recruitment agency is seeking a proactive, results-oriented Project Controls Manager on behalf of our client, an innovative leader in plastic recycling. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact within the petrochemicals sector by driving cost management, scheduling, and reporting initiatives. As part of a startup-like environment, the ideal candidate will have a strong petrochemicals background and hands-on cost management experience, ready to take on leadership responsibilities from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project controls activities, focusing on cost management, scheduling, and reporting for large-scale petrochemical projects.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive cost control systems, including budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish baselines and monitor progress, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Analyze project data to generate accurate reports on cost performance, identifying potential issues early.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource management, leveraging hands-on experience to drive efficiency.
  • Facilitate coordination between project stakeholders, including contractors and internal teams, to align on project status and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain project control procedures that support transparency and accountability.
  • Regular travel to Augusta, Georgia, to oversee on-site activities and coordinate with local teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in project controls within the petrochemicals sector.
  • Proven hands-on experience in cost control, scheduling, and reporting in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in project control software (e.g., Primavera P6, SAP, Excel).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a startup-like environment with evolving priorities.
