Position Summary

MCC's Community Doula and Lactation Program offers comprehensive trainings grounded in Reproductive and Racial Justice to community members; supports pregnant and parenting families by pairing them with trained Doula and Lactation Community Health Workers (DLCHWs)/Community Doulas; and offers various workshops and trainings for childbearing families and the birth worker community.

The Program Associate provides administrative and programmatic support to Maternity Care Coalition’s Community Doula and Lactation Program. Responsible for all administrative tasks related to the Community Doula Network referral/match program.

Essential Functions
  • Provides general administrative support to Program Manager, training coordinator and program staff, including responding to phone and email messages, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, materials, and handouts, and writing minutes.
  • Responsible for supporting Community Doula referral/match program, including responding to all requests for doula support services from pregnant families and referral partners and matching active community doula network members with families.
  • Communicates with DLCHWs and community doulas to ensure delivery of client services and compliance with program scope of work:
  • Follows up with DLCHWs/doulas to ensure they are connecting with matched client families in a timely manner and tracks status of doula support.
  • Responsible for distribution of client satisfaction surveys for clients that have concluded doula support services.
  • Provides guidance and resources to DLCHWs/doulas to support their client’s needs and concerns, including referrals to other MCC programs, as needed.
  • Collects and verifies doula contact forms submitted by community doula network members for payment, and prepares and submits their invoices for payment and tracks and attributes to appropriate funding sources.
  • Coordinates catering services for MCC’s DLCHW trainings.
  • Updates program forms related to doula support and clients and process protocols as needed.
  • Updates and monitors tracking protocols required by MCO funders.
  • ETO data entry of all forms submitted by doulas for support provided to childbearing families.
  • Assists with preparation of program reports.
  • Assists with planning and preparation of DLCHW trainings and materials.
  • Assists with securing space for, and planning of, quarterly doula/peer counselor gatherings.
  • Represents Maternity Care Coalition and the program in the community.

Other Tasks

  • Participates in team, site and one on one supervision meetings as requested.
  • Attend community meetings, health fairs and events, and represent MCC as needed.
  • Adheres to the MCC’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Completes special projects and additional tasks specific to the function of the department or as needed for the department as directed by the supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with all Office Suite programs, including Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Ability to organize projects independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with people and as a team.
  • Commitment to racial equity and reproductive justice principles.
  • Understanding of perinatal health and wellness.
  • Commitment to mission of MCC.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

  • Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with all components of Microsoft Office XP.
  • Trained and experienced as a birth and/or postpartum doula preferred.
