Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

The Full-Time Occupational Therapist (OT) will have three main clinical responsibilities: conducting evaluations for Early Start clients, providing consultation services to Early Start clients, and delivering direct therapy to a subgroup of clients when necessary. The OT will report directly to the Regional Director of the assigned region (e.g., OC Regional Director) and may receive additional supervision from other Coyne Directors as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Conducting Evaluations:
Perform developmental evaluations for Early Start clients, collaborating with other clinicians (e.g., Speech-Language Pathologists, BCBAs) during the process. Ensure the evaluation report is submitted within the required timeframe (typically within 48 hours).

Providing Consultation Services:
Provide consultation to Early Start clients based on individual needs (e.g., once per month, every three months). Offer recommendations to the Program Supervisor regarding instructional strategies and target objectives. Document and summarize the consultation, submitting it to the Regional Director for inclusion in the child’s progress report.

Providing Direct Therapy:
Deliver one-on-one occupational therapy if required, as determined by the Regional Director (e.g., 1 hour per week). Track progress and provide data on skill acquisition and mastery for inclusion in the client’s progress report.

Operational Responsibilities:

Time Tracking:
Record on-site hours using Coyne Time Sheets and ensure accurate logging in the web-based database for billing and payroll. Submit time by 9 PM the day after services are provided to avoid discrepancies.

Professional Conduct:
Adhere to Coyne policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of professionalism in interactions with clients, staff, funders, and other professionals.

Qualifications:

Hold a current OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) credential issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and maintain it throughout employment.

Have at least one year of experience working with young children with developmental delays.

Additional Requirements:

Be in good health, able to lift up to 30 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and kneeling during sessions.

Pass a background check, including fingerprinting through the Department of Justice and FBI for clearance to work with children.

Have a valid California driver’s license, car insurance, and be insurable under the company’s policy. A current Motor Vehicle Report may be requested.

Submit a transcript showing a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and required training or certifications.

Maintain current Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric First Aid certification, completing all necessary health and safety trainings.

Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain good attendance and punctuality, addressing clinical or personnel issues as needed.
