Job Role

Key Responsibilities:
• Access Electronic Health Records (EHR) on behalf of the laboratory.
• Search and retrieve relevant medical records related to lab orders/requisitions, or patient history.
• Upload retrieved medical records into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for further review by authorized personnel.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of data, following HIPAA guidelines and lab policies.

Desired Skills
• Ability to identify relevant clinical information (lab orders, patient histories, physician notes) and ensure accuracy in record retrieval.
• Strong focus on data accuracy and completeness to minimize errors in the retrieval process.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology, laboratory requisitions, and procedures.
• Proficiency in using computers, data management software, and EHR/LIMS platforms.
• Basic understanding of data management tools like Excel or specialized medical software.
• Familiarity with common lab tests, diagnoses, and clinical documentation formats to identify relevant information efficiently.
• Experience on Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic will add advantage.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ability to upload, manage, and track records efficiently.
• Critical thinking to identify missing or incomplete records and communicate with relevant personnel for clarification.
• Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
• Awareness of data protection protocols when handling sensitive patient information.
• Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and lab requirements.
• Capability to handle multiple cases, maintain documentation logs, and ensure smooth workflow within deadlines.

Eligibility
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Life-sciences
• Associate degree/certification or experience as Medical Assistant, medical billing/coding, or a related field.
