POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanics Apprentice position is an entry level position for someone looking to enter the mechanical trade. Essential duties include shuttling buses for mechanics, replacing seat covers and foam, assisting fleet mechanics with larger jobs, and any other jobs as assigned in the Shop. A general knowledge of vehicle mechanics is required. Will require frequent heavy lifting and repetitive motions. Will require frequent exposure to weather conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Shuttling buses between bus lots and parking completed repairs in correct rows.
2. Replacing seat covers and seat foam as needed on buses.
3. Replacing broken windows and window latches on buses.
4. Steam washing engines after repairs to ensure leaks are corrected.
5. Opening and closing heater valves as season dictates.
6. Jump starting buses and load test and replace batteries as needed.
7. Maintain parking lot striping and numbering; audit and correct parking compliance for inspections.
8. Lanyarding keys and pulling keys from ignition.
9. Performing all other duties assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Basic knowledge of automotive/truck mechanical systems required.
• The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions performing manual labor.
• Must provide own small hand and power tool set including drill, with a locking tool cart or box.
• A desire to achieve ASE certification.
• Must provide safety shoes.

Requirements


EDUCATION:

- High School Diploma or GED required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

- Must have a valid Georgia Driver?s License.
- Class B CDL license required within 6 months of employment.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

- Prior mechanical service experience or CDL operation preferred.
