Job Overview: Continental Tide is seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanic. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repair, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Assist in performing repairs, modifications and overhauls on various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry.
- Assist in performing operational tests on installed equipment and systems.
- Apply knowledge of production and processes toward completion of assignments and understanding concerning the preparation and use of technical documents, work packages and test documents.
- Able to perform operational tests on installed equipment and systems.
- Familiar experience with troubleshooting techniques of machinery and equipment.
- Report to and brief supervisor and management on task status.
Experience and Skills Requirements: - Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree.
- 0-5 years of experience in Cableway, Fire watch, CP, Respiratory protection.
- Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.
- Able to read and comprehend engineering and electrical schematics.
- Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials.
- Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
- Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
