Job Purpose

The Machine Learning Engineer will assist in designing and deploying machine learning models to address business challenges within the ONI enterprise. This role involves supporting the project manager in requirements gathering, technical management, and transitioning ML models to production environments with proper security authorizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in the design and productionizing of Machine Learning (ML) models to solve business challenges using proven ML technology and techniques.
• Assist the Project Manager (PM) in requirements elicitation and refinement for ML applications within the ONI enterprise.
• Support the PM with the development of position papers, technical summaries, trade-off analyses, technical management, and highlighting key program issues.
• Support the transition of ML models to a production environment with Authority to Operate (ATO) by reviewing Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts and providing necessary information to create the required artifacts.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
• Extensive data modeling and data architecture skills.
• Programming experience in Python, R, and/or Java.
• Background in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or Keras.
• Knowledge of Hadoop or other distributed computing systems.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Advanced math skills, including linear algebra, Bayesian statistics, and group theory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills for working with stakeholders and team members.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with other machine learning frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and services.
• Familiarity with additional programming languages and data analysis tools.
