Position Overview: Computer Science Teacher

As a Computer Science Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in implementing and developing Uncommon’s curriculum while ensuring the success of our students. We are looking for passionate educators who are committed to continuous improvement through collaboration within a grade-level team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement engaging curricula and activities that meet academic standards.
  • Design and execute assessments to measure student progress.
  • Utilize assessment data to refine curriculum and enhance instructional practices.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development and participate in school-wide functions.
  • Provide consistent rewards and consequences for student behavior.
  • Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.

Qualifications

  • A passion for improving the minds and lives of students both in and out of the classroom.
  • A proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Mastery and enthusiasm for academic subjects.
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public or charter school setting preferred.
  • By the start of employment, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and meet specific GPA requirements based on state regulations.
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required. Alignment with Uncommon’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is essential.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 . Starting pay is determined by various factors, including relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
