Capano Management’s Wine & Spirits Division is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to lead the operations of its multi-store retail business in Delaware. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple store locations, driving sales and profitability, and leading a high-performing team focused on exceptional service, expert product knowledge, and strong community engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on leader with a proven track record in liquor retail management, a passion for the industry, and a growth-oriented mindset. They will bring professionalism and strong customer service skills, ensuring top-tier guest experiences.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead, coach, and inspire store teams to achieve sales, service, and performance goals.
  2. Manage all facets of multi-unit retail operations, including P&L accountability, expense control, staffing, merchandising, and shrink management.
  3. Develop and execute strategies to increase store revenue and profit margins, including promotional planning, upselling techniques, pricing strategies, and product mix optimization.
  4. Analyze key performance indicators to identify opportunities for operational improvement and financial growth.
  5. Maintain high standards for visual merchandising, inventory accuracy, and product assortment.
  6. Build a customer-first culture through personalized service, local engagement, and ongoing team training.
  7. Forge strong supplier partnerships to optimize the cost of goods, negotiate favorable terms, and drive product innovation.
  8. Spearhead rebranding and repositioning efforts across multiple store locations to align with evolving market demands.
  9. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of all store personnel.
  10. Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications:

  1. 10+ years of progressive experience in liquor or retail sales, preferably in a high-volume, multi-unit, or big box environment.
  2. Proven success as a General Manager or Assistant GM with demonstrated impact on sales and profit growth.
  3. Deep understanding of P&L management, gross profit optimization, and cost control strategies.
  4. Track record of implementing revenue-driving initiatives that enhance customer experience and increase basket size.
  5. Skilled in performance coaching, team leadership, and employee engagement.
  6. Creative eye for merchandising and in-store visual presentation.
  7. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  8. Hospitality, Business, or Retail Management degree preferred.
  9. Industry certifications such as WSET, Sommelier, or equivalent are a plus.
  10. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak retail hours as needed.
