The R&D Technician supports the development and implementation of new food products and the improvement of existing products. This role collaborates closely with the Director of Sales and Operations and other departments to ensure that all products meet food safety, quality, and operational requirements from concept through production.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing new products and improving existing ones based on company and customer needs.Support product trials, sample preparation, and shelf-life testing.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Production, Purchasing) during product launches to ensure product consistency and food safety.Maintain accurate records of formulations, trials, test results, and specification documents.Participate in cuttings and evaluations to review product performance and quality.Help ensure all packaging, labeling, and product specifications meet customer and regulatory requirements.Prepare and maintain documentation for recipes and changes in the Manufacturing database.Coordinate with Purchasing to evaluate and recommend ingredients based on quality, functionality, and cost.Support training efforts for new products, focusing on key food safety and quality elements.Follow and promote company safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).QualificationsEducation: Bachelor?s degree in Food Science preferred. Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.Experience: Internship or up to 1 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or R&D environment is a plus but not required.Strong interest in product development and food science.Basic understanding of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, GMP, etc.).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organization and time management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
