Job Description: As an Environmental Specialist, you will help the organization operate in a manner that meets and exceeds environmental policies in place that promote the preservation of natural resources, cultural resources and human health. You will assist in creating and implementing environmental plans and policies, oversee various projects' environmental performances, and ensure the organization is complying with federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers procedures towards effective environmental strategies, practices, and action plans to ensure that work being performed promotes sustainability
  • Perform routine inspections of the job site and facility operations, documenting your findings and performing corrective actions as needed
  • Design strategies, prepare and implement applicable environmental plans and procedures as required by the contract
  • Respond to environmental emergencies such as spills and accidental releases. This includes initial response, assisting with clean up efforts, performing interviews with personnel involved, completing applicable documentation and reporting to appropriate authorities.
  • Respond to and interact with regulatory agencies as needed to perform your work duties, such as Guam EPA, USEPA, NAVFAC, NPDES, US Fish and Wildlife etc.
  • Accurate and timely reporting and recordkeeping
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related fields
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in an environmental position is required, though having more is preferred
  • Familiarity with EPA, DOT, NEPA, CAA, CWA, DOT and OSHA regulations, or the ability to perform research on applicable regulations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficiency with computers (specifically Microsoft Office Products)
  • Experience in training and employee development
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
