The Customs Broker is responsible for ensuring the accurate and compliant clearance of international shipments through U.S. Customs and other government agencies. This role involves preparing and submitting documentation, advising clients on import regulations, and coordinating with carriers, government officials, and internal teams to facilitate smooth and timely cargo movement.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and submit import documentation required for customs entry.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations and all relevant government agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.).
Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
Communicate with clients, carriers, and customs officials to resolve issues and ensure timely release of shipments.
Maintain accurate records of entries, duty payments, and regulatory documentation.
Provide guidance to clients on tariff classifications, duty rates, and customs requirements.
Monitor shipment status and proactively address any delays or compliance concerns.
Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and industry practices.
Active U.S. Customs Broker License preferred (or ability to become licensed).
Experience in customs brokerage, logistics, freight forwarding, or trade compliance is a plus.
Strong understanding of import regulations, documentation, and HTS classification.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
