Position: Bilingual Spanish Algebra Tutor
Location: Juan Morel Campos Secondary School, 215 Heyward St, Brooklyn, NY 11206

About the Role:
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group Algebra I instruction to Spanish-speaking 8th and 9th-grade students at Juan Morel Campos Secondary School. As a bilingual Algebra tutor, you’ll partner with teachers in the classroom to deliver personalized instruction that empowers students to enhance their mathematical skills, build confidence, and achieve academic success.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive instruction in high school Algebra I.
• Engage small groups of students, helping them overcome challenges and master key algebraic concepts.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
• Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.

Schedule:

• Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
• Time:
  • Monday & Friday: 10:40 AM – 2:40 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:20 AM – 12:20 PM
• Duration: March 3, 2025 – June 4, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Dates Off:
  • March 21: High School 6-12 Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC)
  • March 31: Eid al-Fitr
  • April 14–18: Spring Recess
  • May 26: Memorial Day

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school Algebra I.
• Bilingual Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) with the ability to instruct in both languages.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Algebra I concepts.
• Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
• Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
