Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Activities Department Supervisor, the Activities Director plans and implements recreation and leisure activities for residents.

DUTIES:

  • Seeks out recreation and leisure opportunities for residents including acquiring free or discount tickets to events and taking advantage of local events in the North County.
  • Plans and schedules daily, weekly and monthly recreation and leisure activities, including outings and activities in the houses.
  • Develops and distributes a monthly activities calendar.
  • Plans, schedules and implements large events on campus.
  • Plans, schedules and implements seasonal recreational activities such as Camp Able and Skiing.
  • Communicates effectively with management team to ensure that necessary arrangements are made (staff scheduled, money requisitioned and picked up, etc.) in order for outings and activities to occur.
  • Communicates with outside organizations, churches, etc. who provide community interaction opportunities for Mountain Shadows residents.
  • Coordinates volunteers, interns, etc. who assist the Activities Department.
  • Schedules and monitors the Recreation Drivers.
  • Attends and participates in activities, events and outings when necessary.
  • Drives vehicles for outings when necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by our insurance agency.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include weekends and holidays as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines.
  • Good computer skills and experience using WORD, Teams and Excel. Experience making flyers, announcements, etc., preferred.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Previous experience as an Activities Director or equivalent preferred.

Compensation details: 22-24 Hourly Wage
